Another week, another airport.
After spending three whole days in aircraft or airports during my travels in January, I spent two days of my first week back waiting at East Midlands Airport for a plane to arrive.
The new Boeing 737-800 ( the first of a new fleet of 22 aircraft being delivered to ThomsonFly), was flying over from the Boeing factory in Seattle, due to technical issues and bad weather on route it arrived 24 hours later than scheduled.
When the plane finally landed it was greeted by a water cannon salute from the airport fire trucks before a host of dignitaries jumped on board for, amongst other things, a ‘key handover’ picture. (Do airliners actually have ignition keys and has a pilot ever locked them in the cockpit !!?).
