NFU Conference 2013
Last month I was commissioned to cover the National Farmers Union (NFU) Conference at The ICC in Birmingham.
This years conference coincided with a perfect storm of farming and environment news. The new Environment Secretary Owen Paterson MP (pictured above) was facing the farmers for the first time, the horse meat scandal was raging, raucous anti badger cull protestors were outside chanting and blowing their ‘vuvuzula’s’ (you must remember them from the South African World Cup finals!) and Philip Clark the Tesco CEO chose the day he appeared on the Conference stage to announce Tesco would be looking to source all their meat, starting with chickens, ‘closer to home’.
It’s fair to say that it was pretty busy couple of days, taking pictures of the delegates, speakers, debates and photocalls and continually uploading them to the NFU’s website and flikr stream, as well as supplying images on request to regional, national and international newspapers, magazines, trade press and websites.
