Dirty Dancing in Birmingham.

I had ‘The Time of My Life’ photographing the press launch of the stage version of Dirty Dancing at the DanceXchange Studios in Birmingham recently.

The sell out show is an adaption of the 1987 movie starring the late Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey.   Originally a low budget film from a new studio with no well known stars Dirty Dancing went on to become a huge box office hit earning nearly a quarter of a billion dollars worldwide, was the first film to sell more than a million copies on video, produced two multi platinum albums and multiple singles including ‘ (I’ve had) The Time of My Life’ which won a Golden Globe, a Grammy and an Oscar for Best Original Song…phew!

I had the pleasure of photographing two of the principal dancers who as well as giving a very impressive high tempo demonstration were also joined by the shows choreographer who put the assembled press, patrons and friends through their Dirty Dancing paces.

‘Dirty dancing – The Classic Story On Stage’ is on at the Birmingham Hippodrome from Thursday 23rd April to Saturday the 23rd May.
