Special Delivery for Observatory…

I was recently commissioned to photograph a very special delivery at The University of Birmingham Observatory at Wast Hills.

The observatory which was established in 1982 is undergoing a major upgrade over the summer, including the installation of a new telescope and instruments.

During a very delicate two hour operation a refurbished mounting was installed and then the new telescope was very carefully hoisted and lowered through the roof of the observatory.

Deep breaths and sighs of relief all round as the precision piece of equipment touched down in it’s new home unscathed.

The observatory is due to be fully operational again in the Autumn.
