BASW Conference 2014.
I was working in London earlier this month covering the Birmingham based BASW (British Association of Social Workers) annual conference and AGM held at the London Symphony Orchestra’s Jerwood Hall.
The prestigious venue was host to some high powered and headline making speakers starting with the highest family court judge in England and Wales, The Right Honourable Sir James Munby – President of the Family Division of the High Court, whose keynote speech at the conference provided a lead story for the Daily Telegraph.
Sir James was followed by Childrens Minister Edward Timpson MP and then, with a slightly more left wing perspective, Owen Jones The Guardian columnist and author of ‘Chavs – The Demonization of the Working Class’ .
I was providing live pictures for the BASW comms team to use on social media throughout the day and, as an interesting side note, achieved my own personal most retweeted tweet ever during the event, not of a picture of any of the headline speakers but of the BASW Council Chairman Guy Shennan (picture above) whose closing message obviously met with the delegate’s approval.
